This course will introduce pranayama (breathing techniques) and mantras (chanting) to the participants as a tool to train and calm the mind. You will learn 8 pranayama techniques and 3 mantras to help prepare the mind to sit in meditation free from distractions (thoughts and feelings). Meditation is the medium in which the mind can realize the soul and find internal peace and happiness.
Throughout this course, participants will understand and experience the purpose and benefits of adding these practices into their morning and/or self-care routines.
Participants will sit comfortably on a yoga mat with the support of bolsters, blocks, and props for most of the experience. There will be a light asana sequence (physical poses) included at the beginning of class to help prepare the body.
No experience necessary. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. We have a few extras if you do not. Bring a journal if you’d like.
Pranayama is best practiced on an empty stomach and with clear nasal passages. Using a neti pot prior to class can assist with this. Wear loose-fitting clothes and layer up to stay warm and comfortable!
